Top 12 Extinct Animals That Lived in Alaska 

Woolly Mammoth - These ancient elephants roamed Alaska during the Pleistocene era, around 2.6 million to 11,700 years ago.

Short-faced bear - Also known as the bulldog bear, this extinct species was one of the largest carnivores to ever exist in North America.

Scimitar cat - This prehistoric cat had long, curved upper canines that were used for hunting prey. 

Giant beaver - This prehistoric rodent was the largest beaver species to ever exist.

American lion - This species of lion was one of the largest carnivores to ever live in North America. 

Steller's sea cow - This marine mammal was once abundant in the waters around Alaska, but was hunted to extinction in the 18th century.

Black-footed ferret - This species of ferret was once found throughout North America, including Alaska, but was hunted to near-extinction due to habitat loss and disease.

 Dusky seaside sparrow - This bird was once found in the salt marshes of Florida, but was hunted to extinction due to habitat destruction.

No official release date has been announced, but fans can expect it to drop sometime in the near future.  

Labrador duck - This sea duck was once found along the Atlantic coast of North America, including Alaska, but was hunted to extinction in the mid-19th century.

Passenger pigeon - This species of pigeon was once the most abundant bird in North America, but was hunted to extinction in the early 20th century.
